Shri A. K. GUPTA

Shri Ashok Kumar Gupta (IRSME) has taken over the charge of General Manager, South Western Railway on 2nd August 2016.


Born on 28th September 1958,Shri Ashok Kumar Gupta is a graduate in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (Product of Special Class Railway Apprentices). He is an officer of IRSME 1979 batch.

During the course of his 37 years long illustrious career, he held several important executive and managerial positions in various Zonal Railways. He worked as Chief Mechanical Engineer of North Central Railway, Chief Mechanical Engineer of Central Organisation for Modernisation of Workshops, New Delhi & Director in Research Design and Standards Organisation, Lucknow.

His administrative skills were on the forefront while working as Divisional Railway Manager of Sambalpur Division in East Coast Railway and Chief Works Manager of Amritsar & Jagadhari Workshops.

He has undergone training programme in General Motors, USA & M/S Danobat, Spain. He has also attended UN Seminars in Kuala Lumpur and Sri Lanka.

Shri Ashok Kumar Gupta was Director of Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (IRIMEE), Jamalpur before taking over charge as General Manager, South Western Railway.
